Collars

I have brought this subject up with a bunch of people...what do you do about your collar?

I wanted a collar that was a COLLAR, and so I purchased a lock and chain. I very much like the heart-lock, but I have felt very exposed in vanilla situations because it feels very obvious to me. Kate insists that it looks like a gothy necklace, but I have gotten some odd looks about it.

Some submissives have more nonchalant collars...ones that are less likely to draw suspicion.

One friend of mine is drooling over the Calix collar at JT's Stockroom. Others admire the Eternity collar

Yet I am smitten with Silverfoot's work. The hybrid collar with a pendant holder is just beautiful...

But as much as I love this example, I hesitate. Would I always love it? Would it work for me when I am in a corporate office (if I go back) as well as at the pool for a mom-kid playdate or Thanksgiving with family?

Many submissives have multiple collars, and I suppose that is one answer, so long as you have the money and/or creativity to have a collection. However, I tend to view my collar as permanent...like a wedding ring or tattoo or a brand...a mark of my Beloved's ownership. I don't have multiple wedding rings, depending on my outfit, for example. To that end, maybe the Eternity collar is ideal, because the simplicity of it lends itself to any occasion. Indeed, my wedding ring is a simple silver band, no stone, no engraving.

I have never gotten a tattoo or brand, although I've thought about it for years and years, because I have never found a design that I was certain about living with forever. I wouldn't hesitate if Beloved told me he desired HIS design on my skin, though. And he was the one who selected our wedding rings, even though we weren't M/s back then.

I suppose that is the answer...to wait until Beloved selects a collar for me.

  1. i have a few different collars, and Master is going to get me a new one, much like your heart shaped lock, but without the chain. We have older kids, and even though i am not ashamed of our lifestyle, i don't want my kids to be humiliated by my choices. That is why i have more than one collar and some very vanilla looking ones.
i also have a tattoo, but i have had for many years. Master has expressed some interest in a new tattoo for me, one that He chooses. i am actually looking forward to it!

  2. It is interesting you introduce the subject of marking to the topic of collars.

A collar marks you as owned.

It seems very important to many subs to be marked in this way. But there are many ways of being marked - temporarily, ongoing or permanently. It can be fun to investigate them.

However I think I prefer a sub to have just one ongoing mark of ownership that can be special to both of us.

Once it was a piece of string tied around her wrist. I think that was my favourite.
